It's no secret that I'm a devoted slate style Tablet PC user, so it may be a surprise to some of you that after all of these years I now have an Editors choice convertible as well as a slate. The bottom line is that the Fujitsu P1510D fills a need in my life that the other convertible Tablet PCs have not.
"WOW" factor alone does not make a product an "Editors Choice" or a TabletPc2 Favorite". It has to function properly, and significantly improve our computing experience. On those rare occasions when we find a product that not only has "WOW" factor, but it fits a specific need better than anything thing else we have seen or used it becomes a TabletPc2 Editors Choice.
In the Case of the Fujitsu lifebook P1510D, the first time I saw it was at PDC in September (Pacific Developer Conference) my initial reaction was "I have Have it!" and that reaction hasn't changed.

First impressions from PDC ... "I love it" was written with my finger nail!
And then came the Fujitsu P1500D Convertible Tablet PC...
Weighing in at 2.2 pounds with an easy to read touch screen, attached keyboard and small enough to toss in a purse makes the Fujitsu Lifebook P1510d my favorite machine to run out the door with when I'm not working or traveling for pleasure. When I'm going to be at the computer all day or working on TabletPc2.com or UltraMobilePcs.com. I prefer a larger screen, but the Fujitsu P1510D is the great for traveling, surfing the net, reading and sending email or making quick notes when your between destinations or the run.
Use it as a convert able or twist the screen and fold it down and use it like a slate, this small convertible Tablet PC is perfect for those who need a computer on the go but have trouble with the size and weight of standard size Tablet PC. Another nice feature is that the P1510 had both SD and CF slots, which makes it convenient for those who use the slots transferring data or photos from camera.
Because its so light and takes up so little space in a bag, I find myself taking it to places where I normally didn't take a Tablet with me. To friends house for dinner, a Supper Bowl party, a casual academy awards party, in the kitchen to pull up a recipe and on a few occasions it even made it into the "Computer free zone" of my bedroom. On a scale of 1-10 the ease of use and convenience
factors of using the Fujitsu P1510D Tablet PC are a 12.
My favorite feature is still the ability to use the your finger nail rather than a stylus on the touch screen. Being able to use a fingernail rather than the pen comes in very handy and it's a feature that I now miss when I'm using a Tablet PC that doesn't have a touch screen.
Omnipass Fingerprint software allows you to choose which finger you want to use, and much to my surprise unlike most fingerprint software I have tried to use in the past, the Omnipass fingerprint software worked flawlessly. AIn fact from start to finish it only took about 60 seconds to recognize and enroll my fingerprint.

The included DialKeys software gives users a virtual keyboard they can use with there thumbs or fingers. As the P1510 has an attached keyboard I didn't find the need to use Dialkeys but for those are used to mobile devices that allow them to input data with there thumbs it will come in handy. DialKeys is the same software that is included on the new Ultra Mobile PCs (UMPC)
Our Wish list for Fujitsu's next generation is short : Add a PCMCIA slot so that the P1510 can be used with an ED-VO card, switch to using the windows wireless and find a way to put the hover back in the pen. With those improvements even though its slightly larger than the new UMPC's coming out, as far as I'm concerned this would be the perfect Ultra Mobile PC.
The Fujitsu P1510D Tablet PC does not have an indoor outdoor display, but as you can see the screen quite well outdoors in indirect sunlight with out a problem.
The Fujitsu P1510D is a Convertible style Tablet PC, that boots in just under 50 seconds with 512 ram installed. We got 2 hours and 16 minutes battery life with the Tablet running in always on mode, the wireless on, no standby, no hibernate and the screen and hard drive set to always on.
Needless to say we would like to see a longer battery life, but in all fairness to Fujitsu as end users we want it all. Small size, light weight, big performance, long battery life, low price. Unfortunately at this point in time the technology to give us the lightweight long life battery's at a low price just isn't there.
I am aware that some people have have reported a problem while writing their hand is on the screen - This is not a problem I encountered.
