AMTEK Introduces New Tablet PC

line

The new ID Tablet PC from AMTEK System Co., Ltd. offers a number of versatile and attractive features. Available in both 10.4- and 12.1-inch TFT XGA screen sizes, the unit is specially configured for use with a dedicated docking station that gives it all the power, performance and features of a high-end desktop PC.

According to Amber Chiu, Sales Director of the company's sales and marketing operations, the ID Tablet PC was specifically created for small and home office applications and in such vertical markets as education, insurance and medicine. Ms. Chiu says the ID Tablet PC met with a 'great response' when it debuted at March's CeBIT show in Hannover. The overall power and versatility of the unit has been enhanced by the inclusion of a Memory Stick slot in the docking station.

This new AMTEK offering can be used as a true mobile system or as a powerful desktop when connected to the docking station. When the two units are combined, the resulting system can also double as a home multimedia center for enjoyment of DVD entertainment with 5.1 surround sound.

Simple Operation
With its embedded Microsoft Windows XP Tablet PC OS, the unit provides state-of-the-art capabilities, including pen input. The XGA resolution screen comes with a sophisticated digitizer so users can control functions and create handwritten documents with an electronic pen - almost like writing with pen and paper. The digitizer and electronic pen provide an exceptional degree of freedom and control by sensing hand pressure to create varying line thicknesses on the screen for precise reproduction of everything from smooth flowing lines to personal signatures.

The remarkably attractive tablet has a single-piece translucent front bezel, which offers superior protection against dust and water. Frequently used controls, including four shortcut keys, are conveniently grouped on the side for a clean look and more user-friendly operation. With its power-efficient Transmeta Crusoe 1.0GHz CPU, the tablet itself operates up to 3.5 hours on a single battery charge. The tablet also provides a maximum system memory of 768MB. For even greater versatility, the tablet comes standard with 802.11b wireless LAN, modem, VGA out for connecting an external monitor or projector and USB 2.0, IEEE1394 and PCMCIA ports. It also includes a Kensington lock.

Stunning Looks
When mounted on the docking station, the ID Tablet PC becomes one of the most attractive and versatile PCs of its type. Ergonomically designed for easy placement and use anywhere, the combined package is perfectly suitable for use in home, office and commercial environments.

The docking station is also a remarkable piece of engineering with its
built-in Memory Stick slot, removable CD-ROM (DVD-ROM and/or Combo module), and twin speakers. An optional housing is available to allow it to function as an external optical drive. The docking arm for mounting the Tablet PC is adjustable in four directions for easier reading of the XGA-quality screen. The docking station itself is designed to function as a stand-alone CD-ROM and/or DVD player. For even more versatility, an RF keyboard will soon be available.

Full-fledged production of the T-1100 ID Tablet PC is expected to start in June with worldwide distribution to follow almost immediately. For more information on this new product and AMTEK, visit the company's website at www.amtek.com.tw
